Some Selected Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad
Knowledge
If anyone removes (one of the) anxieties of this world from a believer,
Allah will remove (one of the) anxieties from him on the Day of Resurrection;
if one smoothes the way for one who is destitute, Allah will smooth the
way for him in this world and the next; and if anyone conceals the faults
of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the next. Allah
helps a man as long as he helps his brother. If anyone pursues a path in
search of knowledge Allah will thereby make easy for him a path to paradise.
(Muslim)
Spending
Do not consider any act of kindness insignificant, even meeting your
brother with a cheerful face. (Muslim).
Insolvency and Respite
He who grants a respite to one who is in straightened circumstances or
who remits his debt, will be saved by Allah from the anxieties of the
Day of Resurrection.(Muslim)
Rights of Wives
Among the believers who show most perfect faith are those who have best
disposition and are kindest to their families. (Tirmidhi)
Retaliation

which judgement will be given on the Day of Resurrection.

honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not
annoy his neighbours; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should
say what is good or keep silent.
(Bukhari, Muslim)
It is part of the Sunna that a man should accompany
his guest to the door of the house.
(Ibn Majah, Baihaqi)
He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should
honour his guest. Provisions for the road are what will serve for a day
and night; hospitality extends for three days; what goes beyond that is
Sadqa; and it is not allowable that a guest should stay till he makes
himself an encumbrance.
(Bukhari, Muslim)
Visiting the Sick
Feed the hungry, visit the sick and free the
captive.(Bukhari)
When you visit an invalid tell him to make a
supplication for you, for his supplication is like of the angels.(Ibn
Majah)
A Muslim has five duties towards another Muslim;
to return a salutation, visit the sick, follow funerals, accept an invitation
and say 'Allah have mercy on you' when one sneezes. (Bukhari, Muslim)

Salutations
There are six good qualities which one believer
should display to another; he should visit him when he is ill, be present
when he dies, accept his invitation when he gives one, salute him when
he meets him, say 'Allah have mercy on you' when he sneezes and act sincerely
towards him whether he is absent or present. (Nasai)
The Allah's messenger (peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him) passed a mixed company of Muslims, polytheists who
worshipped idols and Jews and he gave them a salutation. (Bukhari,
Muslim)
Those who are nearest to Allah are they who
are first to give a salutation. (Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud)
When you go into your family, give a salutation.
It will be a blessing both to you and to your family. (Tirmidhi)

By Him in Whose hand my soul is, a man does
not believe till he likes for his brother what he likes for himself.
(Bukhari, Muslim)
Those who are merciful have mercy shown them
by the Compassionate One, if you show mercy to those who are in the earth,
He Who is in heaven will show mercy to you.(Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)
He does not belong to us who does not show mercy
to our young ones and respect to our old ones, who does not recommend
what is reputable and prohibit what is disreputable.(Tirmidhi)
The best house among the Muslims is the one
which contains an orphan who is well treated, and the worst house among
the Muslims is the one which contains an orphan who is badly treated.
(Ibn Majah)
The believer is not the one who eats his fill
when the neighbour beside him is hungry. (Baihaqi)
Touch an orphan's head and feed the poor. (Ahmad)

Guarding against Slander and Abuse
None of my companions must tell me anything
about anyone, for I like to come out to you with no ill-feelings. (Abu-Dawud)
If you guarantee me six things on your part,
I shall guarantee you paradise: speak the truth when you talk, keep a
promise when you make it, when you are trusted with something fulfil your
trust, avoid sexual immorality, lower your eyes and restrain your hand
from injustice. (Baihaqi)

so that no one boasts over another, or oppresses another. (Muslim)

from his Muslim brother for more than three days. The better of the two
is the one who is first to give a greeting.

He who is deprived of gentleness is deprived
of good.
(Muslim).
I have been sent to perfect good character.

best character.

those who have the best character.
(Abu Dawud, Darimi).
Tenderness and Mercy towards people
Allah will not show mercy to him who does not
show mercy to others.

"If anyone cares for two girls till they
grow up, he and I will come on the Day of Resurrection thus," and
he joined fingers.
(Muslim).
"I and the one who takes responsibility
for an orphan, whether his own kin or of others, will be in paradise thus,"

between them.
(Bukhari).

Seek me among you weak ones, for you are given
provision from Allah, Allah will be satisfied with few good deeds from
him.
(Baihaqi).
O Allah, grant me life as a poor man, cause
me to die as a poor man, and resurrect me in the company of the poor.
(Tirmidhi, Baihaqi).
Abu Dharr said: My friend ordered me to observe
seven things. He ordered me to love the poor and be near them; he ordered
me to consider my inferior and not consider my superior; he ordered me
to join ties of relationship even when relatives are at a distance; he
ordered me not to ask anyone for anything; he ordered me to speak the
truth even when it is bitter; he ordered me not to fear for Allah's sake
reproach anyone may cast on me; and he ordered me to repeat often, "There
is no might and no power except in Allah," for these words are a
part of the treasure under the throne.
(Ahmad).
Hope & Avidity
Allah loves the pious rich man who is inconspicuous.
(Muslim).
Anger & Pride
The strong man is not the good wrestler; the
strong man is only the one who controls himself when he is angry.
(Bukhari, Muslim).
He who has in his heart as much faith as a grain
of mustard seed will not enter hell, and he who has in his heart as much
pride as a grain of mustard seed will not enter paradise.
(Muslim).
When one of you becomes angry while standing,
he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise
he should lie down.
(Ahmad, Tirmidhi).
Oppression
Beware of the plea of the oppressed, for he
asks Allah most high only for his due, and Allah does not keep one who
has a right from receiving what is due.
(Baihaqi).
If anyone walks with an oppressor to strengthen,
knowing that he is an oppressor, he has gone forth from Islam.
(Baihaqi).
The Prophet's (PEACE AND BLESSINGS OF ALLAH BE UPON HIM ) Character
If anyone of you sees something objectionable,
he should change it with his hand, but if he cannot, he should change

Righteousness is good morality, and wrongdoing
is that which wavers in your soul and which you dislike people finding
out about.
(Muslim).
Each person's every joint must perform a charity
every day: To act justly between two people is a charity; to help a man
with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto
it is a charity; a good word is a charity; every step you take to prayers
(i.e. on your way to the mosque) is a charity and removing a harmful thing
from the road is a charity.
(Bukhari, Muslim).
Allah has written down the good deeds and the
bad ones. Then He explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a
good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a
full good deed, but if he intended it and has done it, Allah writes it
down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many
times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah
writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended
it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.
(Bukhari, Muslim).
Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices
one to another; do not hate one another; do not turn away from one another;
and do not undercut one another, but be you. O servants of Allah, brothers.
A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim: he neither oppresses him nor does
he fail him, he neither lies to him nor does he hold him in contempt.
Piety is right here-and the Prophet (peace be upon him) pointed to his
breast three times. It is evil enough for a man to hold his brother Muslim
in contempt. The whole of a Muslim for another is inviolable: his blood,
his property and his honour.
(Muslim).
HALAL & HARAM
A time will come when people will devour usury,
calling it "trade."

will be recompensed according to what he intended.

(Ibn Hayyan).
It is better that a person should take a rope
and bring a bundle of wood on his back to sell so that Allah may preserve
his honour, than that he should beg from people, (regardless of) whether
they give to him or refuse him.
(Bukhari, Muslim).
When a Muslim plants a plant or cultivates a
crop, no bird or human being eats from it without its being accounted
for as a (rewardable) charity for him.
(Bukhari, Muslim).
If anyone plants a tree, patiently protects
it and looks after it until it bears fruit, Allah the Mighty and Glorious
will count as charity for him anything for which its fruits are used.
(Ahmad).
An honest and trustworthy merchant will be with
the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs.
(Hakim, Tirmidhi).
Among lawful things divorce is most hated by
Allah.
(Abu Dawud).
Anyone who has two wives and does not treat
them equally will come on the Day of Resurrection dragging one part of
his body which will be hanging down.

the people under his care, and the man will be asked concerning the people
of his household.

Allah the Almighty has said: O son Of Adam,
so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what
you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to
reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me,
I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly
as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner
to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it (NOTE 29)
(Tirmidhi).

a bad deed will be recorded as it is."

wives and so have your wives over you. They are the trust of Allah in
your hands, So you must treat them with kindness.

of life, I shall myself stand between him and hell-fire.
